Forget Solar Power, Human Power is the Future

That may be a little aggressive, but Princeton University engineers have developed a device that may change the way that we power many of our smaller gadgets and devices. By using out natural body movement, they have created a small chip that will actually capture and harness that natural energy lenovo thinkpad x301 battery to create enough energy to power up things such as a cell phone, pacemaker and many other small devices that are electronic.

The chip is actually a combination of rubber and ceramic nanoribbons. When the chip is flexed, it generates electrical energy. How will this be put to use? Think of rubber soled shoes that have this chip embedded into them and every time a step is taken, energy is created and stored. Just the normal walking around inside the office during a normal work day would be enough to keep that cell phone powered every day.

An application that has pacemaker users excited is the fact that this chip could be placed in proximity of the lungs and it would create natural power for their pacemakers. Currently, the only way to replace the battery is to go through another surgery, but the natural motion of the lungs would create enough movement to continuously power the device via this chip. Finally, only one surgery would be needed and unless there was actually a problem with the pacemaker itself, there would no longer be the need to go lenovo 3000 g450 battery under the knife again.

This technology is an incredible development in that it can have so many different applications. The engineers at Princeton were able to combine the materials in a way that created an electric charge when pressure is applied to the chip. It actually converts about 80% of the mechanical energy into electrical energy. In the case of the pacemaker, this means a constant power source as the lungs would obviously continuously apply the pressure that was needed to create the energy.

Additionally, the new power chip is pretty much ready to go in regards to being an implant device. Because of the materials that it is made up of, the body should readily accept it without fear of rejection. When we think of how many varieties of medical devices that are available and require power sources, this is a truly amazing invention.

While it would appear that the technology itself is very futuristic, once it is able to be mass produced, it is probably reasonable to assume that the chips will not actually be all that expensive because of the materials that are being used in its construction. They may be a bit pricey when they first hit the market, but as they become more widely used and available, that price tag should come down.

Similar technology has already been introduced in other products, but nothing that has the flexibility of this Asus laptop battery product. Human power is nothing new, but to be able to have medical devices implanted that require nothing more than normal breathing or walking is quite amazing.

After a series of studies, and a plethora of research, ingenuity in Cornell University have found an easier and more efficient to create solar cells. Interestingly, they found the solution in a pair of jeans every day.
Yes, exactly. Jeans.

The molecules are present in jeans and several other colors of ink can be used effectively to create a structure called covalent organic framework or COF. In turn, can help make solar cells much cheaper and more versatile than those from other molecules.

Phthalocyanines, also known as common industrial dyes, have a similar structure to chlorophyll and can absorb most of the solar spectrum. The process makes these molecules in a sheet in two dimensions, which are then stacked on each other to open a path for a fee.

Although research has so far resulted in the structure of a solar cell, not the cell itself, researchers believe that the time model is used to create the actual solar cells. Clearly, they are into something here

Here we discuss Facts about solar energy usage, systems, plus sun related and other Interesting Facts about Solar Energy.

All of which will help you with your decision whether or not to install a solar energy system at your home.

Perhaps you’d even like to save yourself a lot of money and Build your very own solar energy system.

General facts

Solar Energy is better for the environment than traditional forms of energy.

Solar energy has many uses such as electricity production and heating of water through photovoltaic cells and directly for drying clothes.

Solar energy can also be used to heat swimming pools, power cars, for attic fans, calculators and other small appliances. It produces lighting for indoors or outdoors.

You can even cook food with solar energy.

Solar Energy is becoming more and more popular. The worldwide demand for Solar Energy is currently greater than supply.

Facts about Solar Energy usage:

Solar Energy is measured in kilowatt-hour. 1 kilowatt = 1000 watts.

1 kilowatt-hour (kWh) = the amount of electricity required to burn a 100 watt light bulb for 10 hours.

According to the US Department of Energy, an average American household used approximately 866-kilowatt hours per month in 1999 costing them $70.68.

About 30% of our total energy consumption is used to heat water.

Facts about Solar Energy systems:

A home solar system is typically made up of solar panels, an inverter, a solar battery, a Solar charger controller, wiring and support structure.

A 1-kilowatt home solar system takes about 1-2 days to install and costs around US$10,000, but can vary greatly and does not take into account any incentives offered by the government.

A 1-kilowatt home solar system consists of about 10-12 solar panels and requires about 100 square feet of installation area.

A 1 kilowatt home solar system will generate approximately 1,600 kilowatt hours per year in a sunny climate (receiving 5.5 hours of sunshine per day) and approximately 750 kilowatt hours per year in a cloudy climate (receiving 2.5 hours of sunshine per day).

A 1-kilowatt home solar system will prevent approximately 170 lbs. of coal from being burned, 300 lbs of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere and 105 gallons of water from being consumed each month!

About 40 solar cells are usually combined into a solar panel and around 10-12 panels mounted in an array facing due North to receive maximum sunlight.

The system usually comes with a 5-year warranty, although the solar panels are warranted for 20.

Relying on the battery back up, a solar energy system can provide electricity 24×7, even on cloudy days and at night.

Solar panels come in various colours.

Solar energy can be collected and stored in batteries, reflected, insulated, absorbed and transmitted.

Sun related Facts about Solar Energy:

Sunlight travels to the earth in approximately 8 minutes from 93,000,000 miles away, at 186,282 miles per second.

The sun is also the main source of non-renewable fossil fuels (coal, gas and petroleum), which began life as plants or animals whose energy came from the sun millions of year ago.

Solar energy is responsible for weather patterns and ocean currents.

Clouds, pollution and wind can prevent the sun’s rays from reaching the earth.

Other Interesting Facts about Solar Energy:

Da Vinci predicted a solar industrialization as far back as 1447.

In one hour more sunlight falls on the earth than what is used by the entire population in one year.

A world record was set in 1990 when a solar powered aircraft flew 4060km across the USA, using no fuel.

Fierce weather cost the world a record $130 Billion in the first eleven months of 1998- more money than was lost from weather related disasters from 1980 to 1990 ($82 Billion).

Researchers from the Worldwatch Institute and Munich Re blame deforestation and climate change from Earth warming for much of the loss. The previous one-year record was $90 Billion in 1996. Source – Associated Press, November 28,1998.

About 2 billion people in the world are currently without electricity.

Accounting for only 5 percent of the world’s population, Americans consume 26 percent of the world’s energy.

Electric ovens consume the most amount of electricity, followed by microwaves and central air conditioning.

Third world countries with an abundance of sunlight and a population currently without electricity, represents the fastest growing market for solar energy, with the largest domestic market being the utilities sector.

Shell Oil predicts that 50% of the world’s energy will come from renewable sources by 2040.

CHENGDU, China, May 19 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ — Apollo Solar Energy, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: ASOE) (“Apollo Solar” or “the Company”), a refiner and producer of high purity tellurium (Te) and tellurium-based metals for the solar photovoltaic (PV) industry and specific segments of the electronic materials market worldwide, in the People’s Republic of China, today announced that the Company has signed an agreement with the Ningguo Municipal Government to build a 2MW demo solar power station in Ningguo City, Anhui Province, China.

According to the agreement, Apollo Solar will invest 60 MM RMB (US $8.75 MM) to build the 2 MW demo solar power station and will be responsible for the construction of the entire project, including planning, design, construction and installation of the solar power station.

The 2MW demo solar power station is expected to become operational in September 2010. The agreement provides for the payment of subsidies to Apollo Solar from central, provincial and local government entities in the PRC for electricity generated by the power station, as follows:

– 2.15 Yuan RMB (US $0.31) per kilowatt hour (kwh) during the first year
of operation of the power station;
– 1.70 Yuan RMB (US $0.25) per kwh during the second year of operation
of the power station; and
– 1.50 Yuan RMB (US $0.21) per kwh during the third and following years
of operation of the power station, in accordance with the rules and
regulations of the central government of China.

Apollo Solar believes that the availability of these types of subsidies could make solar power stations profitable and could attract potential investors to invest in commercial solar power stations.

“We are very pleased to sign the agreement with Ningguo Municipal Government to build the 2 MW demo solar power station, the first project of those contemplated by the non-binding letter of intent signed in April between Apollo Solar and the Ningguo Municipal Government” stated Mr. Renyi Hou, the CEO of the Company. “Apollo Solar has purchased 2 MW of thin film solar panels in the US and we expect the shipment to arrive at Ningguo City in mid- June of 2010. We then anticipate completing the installation of the 2 MW of thin film solar panels, and beginning testing of the operation, by the end of September, 2010.”

“We believe that governmental support for the solar PV industry, including Cadmium-Telluride (CdTe) thin-film solar cells, could lead to the commercialization of solar power stations. At the Mediterranean Solar Plan Conference on May 11, in Valencia, Spain, the International Energy Agency, IEA, predicted that 20-25% of total electricity supply will come from solar power stations before 2050 if governments continue current subsidy policies for the solar PV industry, though current solar power is far below 1%.” Mr. Hou commented. “Apollo Solar plans to procure high quality thin film solar panels with competitive pricing through OEM agreements which we believe will allow us to enter the downstream solar PV industry to build and operate solar power stations.”

One of the main cons with electric cars is the storage of electricity that moves. Batteries are not saved as much electricity to make long journeys, which determines that in order to travel more miles, you have to put more batteries. Nevertheless the use of these cars is one of the goals that humanity must be imposed to combat global warming, as fossil fuel combustion accounts for much of the emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. So to make a viable electric car is really organic, not only have to get better batteries, but feed them with renewable energy.

In Germany they are betting to get a million electric vehicles powered only by renewable energy by 2020. They also hope that in this term green electricity account 30 percent of the country’s energy consumption. The problem faced is that it is difficult to achieve a goal such as electromovilidad is completely organic. There is also the danger that, if the electric car industry is growing faster than renewables, which will lead to increased energy consumption to be covered with clean energy, so electric cars would still pollute, but a lesser degree than burning fossil fuels.

To deal with this while achieving the goal, Dominik Noer, the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy, has developed a smart grid system. It is based on electric cars with a capacity to store much energy. Assuming that the cars are usually parked 20 of the 24 hours a day, is that enough time to reload if they are electric, using peak electricity from wind or solar energy, and also when energy demand is lower, so as not to affect the peak hour power consumption.

This intelligent charging system could help inject demand for electric cars to the electricity network is not saturated at peak hours. The system of smart charging stations is a device that allows electric cars recharged when renewable energies are at their peak of energy injection to the network. Thus, not only avoid the rush hour recharge, but making full use of peak wind and solar, which is sometimes wasted. Wind and solar are dependent on wind and sun, respectively, and therefore sometimes have their maximum peak power production just as demand is lower, making that energy is lost as it can not be stored. With the advent of electric cars, and with this intelligent charging system, could exploit this extra wasted.

The initiative also is betting that the recharge is charged less at the time of peak of renewable generation, and more expensive during peak hours of consumption. Benefits should be given instead of cons to encourage the use of electric cars.

Every time we fill the tank of our car we are aware of the importance of fuels in our way of life. But his influence goes beyond our comfort and our independence and have global effects. In fact our dependence on fossil fuels affects the global economy and helping to increase daily emissions of greenhouse gases. But are there alternatives?

The electric car, associated with the use of renewable energy is a promising bet for the near future and hybrids (plug-in or not) can speed the transition. But What about trucks and tractors? What about airplanes? Is there a plan B? The response we give to these questions in the coming years is unknown, but may not be unique and will undoubtedly go for the use of some alternative fuel that is more respectful of the environment.

First generation biofuels seem to have lost the game after the recent distortions that have been introduced in food markets, along with his involvement in deforestation and loss of tropical biodiversity. But there are alternatives that can be solved, at least in part, some of the problems generated by competition between food and bioenergy products. In this context, microalgae appear to have all the signs of its part: as a best estimate it could generate up to 50,000 L of oil per hectare per year compared to 5000 produced by the palm of aceite1, which is the culture that currently produces the largest oil yield, while threatening the jungle of Borneo. As a result of this higher performance extension of arable land can be reduced in equal measure, and the fact that you can use marginal lands will help to avoid direct competition with traditional agriculture. Furthermore, its oil content can be above 70% on dry basis, but is generally around 30% .

2 In addition, these microorganisms grow in salt or brackish water, so in principle, its influence on the stress water is minimal. Then one wonders why not use algae-based fuels and? A simple answer would be that the price per liter of biodiesel derived from algae is far from being competitive, it is estimated it would cost not less than 2 € / L. But there are many technological and commercial aspects ranging from species selection, and in aspects of bioengineering, which would be worth examining in depth. To this end IMDEA Energy (www.energia.imdea.org) in collaboration with the Escuela de Organización Industrial (EOI) (www.eoi.es) held last April 8 a conference entitled “Microalgae A green source of oil? “international experts in both industry and the scientific field provided an updated view of this topic.

Pierpaolo Cazzola of the International Energy Agency looked at the return of energy and life cycle of biofuels from microalgae and highlighted the significant impact that the use of fertilizer and drying of biomass is in these estimates. Professor Miguel García Guerrero of the Joint University and the CSIC Sevilla, recalled the taxonomic differences between microalgae and cyanobacteria themselves, and spoke of the advances in genetic engineering of these microorganisms to maximize the production of carbohydrates for conversion into ethanol. Antonio Fernandez said Biomar Institute’s efforts to get your company in the most appropriate species of microalgae for biofuel production taking advantage of the enormous natural biodiversity and selecting the most interesting strains obtained from expeditions around the globe.

Emilio Molina Professor, University of Almeria described his experience to set up an experimental greenhouse for cultivating microalgae in tubular reactors and produce biodiesel transterificación pilot scale. On the other hand, Professor René Wijffels Wageningen University (Netherlands) highlighted the importance of considering the overall utilization of microalgae biomass for bioenergy products not only forward but also pharmaceutical substances or food to increasing the profitability of the process, since according to their estimates would be possible to achieve a market value of 1.65 € / kg of biomass produced. Finally, Repsol YPF Spy Henry said his company’s bid for the development of biological reactors simple and inexpensive approach to enable this technology to commercial viability.

In summary, arguably the expectations of microalgae as a source of biofuels with lower environmental impacts are very high, but there are still significant technological and economic challenges that need to be resolved before we can find these products on our station.

CD. OF PANAMA, Panama, April 28, 2010 .- A World Bank report says that climate change is a serious obstacle to the growth of poor nations, and must be controlled. A step against this global problem are clean energy.

However, plugged into the generation and renewable energy production is a challenge for all countries, but there are many Latin American nations have been directed towards this sector, such as Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico and Panama.

In Panamanian soil is personal initiatives, governmental and scientific organizations, with a common goal of reducing carbon emissions and generate renewable energy.

The Legal Advisor to the National Secretariat of Energy (SNE), Renza Samudio, raised in the forum “The contribution of renewable energy in Central America to climate change mitigation, the world population must realize that in the coming decades the world requires more energy than 2% to 3%, therefore, need to find options.

In addition, a green energy are great allies to reduce global emissions by between 40% and 45%, said the official.

Particular initiative

Those who bet on green energy is the engineer and inventor Antonio Clément, remembered for his outstanding participation in the Energy Globe Competition 2006. Now this ingenious Panamanian built a small wind farm in Anton, Cocle.

Clément says that the park is still under construction but is capable of generating five kilowatts of energy per hour, enough for a home or industry. The project has a cost of $ 20,000 and is fully funded by Clément.

To the engineer, energy efficiency and will be an important area for future work. In addition, scenarios for development must take into account savings can be achieved, creating awareness on the rational and intelligent use of energy.

In Panama, the largest contributor to global warming is the use of land, followed by the energy sector, which accounts for 38% of the country’s total emissions, “according to the inventory of greenhouse gases.

Turn toward renewable

Because of this situation is under review the draft law on wind energy, by which is expected to generate 150 megawatts of power, as well as examines the issue of generating biofuels derived from sugarcane or palm oil, says Renza Samudio, of the SNE.

Meanwhile, there are projects of the National Environmental Authority (ANAM), in coordination with Energy and Environment Partnership with Central America (AEA), to generate solar and wind power in Comarca Kuna Yala and the provinces of Chiriqui and Darien.

Also conducted studies for a wind project in Santa Fe de Veraguas and for a photovoltaic pump system for the development of watering points in Chiriqui, in order to make more efficient livestock.

Scientific projects

At the last meeting of the Iberoamerican Network of Energy, were announced some of the renewable energy research initiatives taking place at the Technological University of Panama (UTP) for the benefit of the environment.

During the meeting, the research director of the UTP Dario Solis, along with his team, presented to the network member countries for projects that are carried out to benefit the environment.

Among those mentioned by Solis, is the solar dryer for agricultural products, requiring no special materials, but in common usage. This is possible by means of a prototype solar dryer, a machine that captures the sun’s rays to heat the air and dry all kinds of leaves, fruits and seeds.

Other entrepreneurial projects taking place in the house of study are the use and production of biodiesel as fuel for diesel engines and the “Design and development of auxiliary system for sustainable housing,” which develops the engineer Rhona Diaz.

As Hannibal Fossati, Secretary of promotion and professional advancement of the College of Agricultural Engineering of Panama, a remarkable benefit of clean energy production is not carbon dioxide emissions and other polluting gases.

However, the engineer Fossatti emphasizes that the main benefit is to learn to use our renewable resources in an efficient and integrated conservation programs and energy efficiency.

Hamburg, Huerth Cologne, Munich. The Brunata-Metrona Group has provided figures which break down the energy consumption for building ages. This fall has reduced discrepancies between old and new buildings revealed than previously thought. A similar result to the homeowners association house and land of Schleswig-Holstein, comes after an analysis of 20,000 housing laptop battery Units

To determine the energy consumption for Baualtersklassen, has over 100,000 Brunata-Metrona ratios of thermally unrenovated buildings from the year 1900 and compared to new buildings in 1995. It was found that have buildings that were built between 1900 and mid-1960s, a heating Dell Latitude D810 Battery energy consumption by an average of 160 kilowatt hours per square meter per year. “Only 10 percent of the buildings from this time consuming more than 240 kilowatt hours per square meter per year,” says the study.

Comparable to slightly higher numbers of homeowners association will house and land for Schleswig-Holstein. As an average consumption of all existing buildings, he has identified an average of 184 kilowatt hours. This equates to approximately 18.4 liters of gas or oil per square meter per year. For buildings up to the year 1977, there is little difference in consumption Dell Latitude D820 Battery. Th average score was 160 to 180 kilowatt hours per square meter per year. As a light leader in consumption have buildings from the postwar decade from 1949 to 1959 emerged. In small apartment buildings were the consumption for the period to 1977 from 140 to 157 kilowatt hours per square meter per year. Then they went from 113 kilowatt hours per square meter per year in the 80’s now back to 89 kilowatt hours per square meter per year.

Also for building the second half of the 20th Century comes Brunata-Metrona to similar numbers, such as house and land of Schleswig-Holstein. Buildings that were built from the mid-1960s to the early 1990s, show a moderate decline to an average of 140 kilowatt hours per square meter per year for Dell XPS M140 Battery ith a Baualtersklasse since 2001 have average values of less than 100 kilowatt hours per square meter per year.

This corresponds to other experiences. Shall indicate the property network GdW, who in 2007 first collected data on energy consumption in its stocks, the average of 140 kilowatt hours per square meter per year. ISTA also came in a 2009 survey provided similar results. Especially in the stocks in Eastern Germany, the buildings were not such a big Dell XPS M1330 Battery Enrgy spinning assumed.

These figures certainly entail fierce competition because many property owners and property management companies are based on existing consumption data. Which then form the basis of profitability calculations for redevelopment. “Our recommendation is to analyze precisely in advance the operating costs and consumption and to let reckon ourselves how much will consumption and costs after a reorganization,” advises Siegfried Rehberg, technical coordinator of GdW.

In addition, tenants have responded to price increases, which must also be included in Dell xps m1730 battery computing engines. Thus, 28 percent indicated in a study of Deutsche Annington to heat for cost reasons, only one room of the apartment. The need to adapt the analysis of the housing companies.

Not all wind farms are found too far from the Apple A1021 Adapter power purchaser. A recent strip-cutting for a 120 kW system was correct in Cleveland, Ohio, where the turbine is to be seen by thousands of travel along I-480 and Pearl Rd Electrical Design Consultants President David Graneto, Pepper Pike, Ohio, says Energy from the turbine is located for adequate lighting and equipment in three buildings of the automobile recycling yard, where the turbine.

When wind speeds are over 10 mph, a residential wind turbine can generate enough electricity to power a home. However, wind speeds are intermittent, so there will be times when the system is generating electricity and times for Apple A1036 Adapter when it’s not. For this reason, most residential wind systems are connected to the grid, and electricity from your utility company is used to supplement the wind energy. The Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978 (PURPA) requires utilities to purchase power from small wind systems, such as the single turbine residential system.

In order to take advantage of this policy, you must sign an interconnection agreement with the utility. Under the agreement, electricity of Apple PowerBook G4 Adapter is measured as it flows into or out of the house.

) When visiting the remanufactured Vestas V-20 (20-m rotor diameter, which sits on a 140 m tower, has been churning over 78 kW in a modest 5.3 m / s wind. When was originally produced for the turbine 100 kW rated power that used in Inspiron 1100 Battery, but the updated design can Pumping at 120 kW wind of at least 10 m / s.

The turbine sport now two-phase induction generators produce 480V. The smaller generator for low wind speeds of up to 4.5 m / s and the large generator for stronger winds. It cuts in at 4.5 m / s. A flat in a building shows stats runs. For example, after 351 hours of activity of the unit had not been nearly 5,000 kWh of electricity generated in the inner city known for its wind powered Dell INSPIRON 5100 Battery.

The cost for the turbine was about $ 375,000 in incentives. Graneto, an electrical engineer and turbine erector with Pearl Wind, calculates a payback in 8 to 9 years and sooner if the Dell XPS M1210 Battery power of up head. He says a higher tower would be faster winds, which is a miracle that could be with a sufficiently high towers and public acceptance, wind farms and cities provide and collect the same.

New Jersey mercury solar system, the region’s largest district to install a solar energy, solar energy financing companies, SunRun, signed an agreement to lease to the East Coast solar energy. The partnership will allow owners to enjoy the very little for their own home solar power generation system without any up-front costs, they can use them to charge their thinkpad x41 battery.

They only need to pay for electricity over time, the monthly fixed exchange rate. Mercury sun and SunRun, on the other hand, you can enjoy the system for power your ThinkPad X31 Battery, including the ownership of state and federal incentives.

Mercury Solar System from the press release is not for obvious reasons, comparing their new program to “SolarLease” risk of SolarCity the famous West Coast. However, it seems obvious similarities in ThinkPad X41 Tablet Battery, as well as Mercury causes and a willingness to initiate such a SunRun in New Jersey, handling the East Coast, “California” of solar power generation. In just a few years, SolarCity doubled, in California, and has spread to Oregon, Arizona and Colorado have more countries, to.

Three-year average monthly electricity costs or four of the SunRun sun bedroom version of the financing program to start at home in New Jersey is only 50 U.S. dollars a month, and homeowners can be as low as 500 U.S. dollars of the pre-installed solar panels with Lenovo ThinkPad T61 Battery. This is a clear difference from $ 25,000 to 40,000 yuan (before discount), which is the cost of installation and ownership of solar power generation system. In addition, all customers receive as part of the transaction, each of refund Sony VGP-BPS8 performance guarantee, system monitoring, maintenance, repair and insurance.

Just last week, New Jersey legislature passed the status of the behavior of solar energy, providing 2020 watts of solar power production of 2194-hour goal. This is about 3 percent in New Jersey’s total VGP-BPS9/S energy consumption and hydropower and solar energy companies and large incentives to move toward the sun spread faster. If SunRun and Mercury solar systems have their own way to power ThinkPad X41 Tablet Battery, the new state to achieve its objectives, a solar lease.
